M: The system usually opens at 7am. I’m up at 6, and by 7, I’m sitting in front of my computer and ready to go. Maybe you should try this approach.

My doctor ordered me to eat less and come up with an exercise plan. Because I’ve never monitored what I eat and how much exercise I get, I turned to modern technology for help. To find out how much exercise I was getting, I bought a device that is called Fitness Tracker. It helps me keep track of my level of fitness. I wear it on my wrist, and then as I move, it measures my activity. It works quite well. But it isn’t as comfortable as a wrist watch. I also bought an app for my smartphone to calculate how much calorie I’ve been eating. It works pretty well, and I am easily able to enter the necessary information in just a minute or two every day. Have I lost weight? Yes, I have. My doctor is happy with me, and I think that technology really helps.

[33:47] Question 39 and 40 are based on the following report.
The American Dialect Society was founded in 1889 to study the English language as it is spoken in North America. The organization was set up as part of an effort to create a comprehensive American dialect dictionary. This, however, took over a century. The dictionary, The Dictionary of American Regional English, was published in five volumes between 1985 and 2012. And it’s a record of American English as it is spoken in the United States. It contains words, phrases, and pronunciation that vary from one part of the country to another. But these days, perhaps, the American Dialect Society is most famous for its word of the year. Every year since 1991, it has selected a word or a phrase which it considers most important for that specific year. For example, “app” was the word for the year 2010, “occupy” in 2011, and “hashtag” in 2012.
